The ribbon-tailed bird of paradise lives in the cloud forests of the mountains of Papua New Guinea between 2,400 and 3,400 meters above sea level. It is approx. 32 cm long, but the tail feathers can be over 1 metre. The beautiful feathers are in demand, and therefore it is both threatened by hunting and the forestry industry, which destroys its habitats.
